Salt Lake City Dog Kennels

If you are a Layton resident planning a business or vacation trip, your cherished pet may be unable to accompany you. Fortunately, you can rest easy with the knowledge that your dog is safe in The Urban Pets’s boarding kennel. Even if you will only be away for a weekend, The Urban Pet will gladly accommodate your dog’s needs. And should you be planning a trip of ten days or more, we will even offer a 10% long term discount. We are located a convenient distance from Hill AFB and cater to our military clientele. We are happy to offer a 10% discount to all active military personnel.

As a guest, your pet will be assigned a specially trained dog monitor who will quickly acquaint themselves with your dog’s routines and needs. The monitor will serve as your dog’s primary caretaker, and this staff member will play with, care for and walk your dog a minimum of twice per day, and ensure that your pet is fed and their accommodations are clean and well appointed with toys, bedding, dishes, food and water. Of course, your cherished pet will have ample time to socialize with other canine guests as well as other members of The Urban Pet’s kennel team. To maximize your dog’s experience, we provide an abundance of toys, music, and even television programs!

We here at the Urban Pet also offer cat boarding on a limited basis. Cats are housed in a separate room. They are set up in a cage with a bed, clean bedding, litter pan and food and water. Music can be played to further insulate them from the dogs and noise. They are interacted with daily to provide them with affection and mental stimulation.

As part of our service, we offer to feed our own pet food. Should they wish, Layton pet owners can select this as an alternative to their pet’s regular diet, although we recommend that all dietary changes be introduced slowly. Special considerations are also provided for pets which are elderly and not as sociable as they used to be. Our staff members also attend to special needs by administering medications for arthritis or other conditions. Ultimately, The Urban Pet is the superior choice for discriminating pet owners in the Layton area. While you are away, you can rest easy with the knowledge that your dog is well cared for. Who knows? At The Urban Pet, your pets may think they are the ones on vacation!

Traveling?

Plot rest stops along the way while travelling with your dog, and plan to stop every 3-5 hours to allow your dog to relieve himself, drink water and stretch his legs (more or less depending on your dog’s needs). Make a list of several veterinary hospitals that are easily accessible from your route, preferably within one hour’s drive from any given point. Check that they will be open during your travel.

Bring for the car ride:

  • Lists of rest stops and veterinary hospitals
  • Leash
  • Dog seat belt or crate / kennel
  • Water and Bowls
  • Treats
  • One or two toys
  • Blanket and/or dog bed
  • Bags to pick up waste
  • Medications, if applicable
  • Your dog’s medical/vaccination records
